Their, There or They’re?

This week’s challenge – Can you complete these sentences by filling in the missing words?

8.    If they wanted to go there they would go, but they’ve heard that it isn’t a nice place, so they're are going to Fiji instead.
9.    Are there not any chocolates left?
10.                       All the children wore their new T-shirts on their residential this week.

CONTRACTIONS

What are they and why do you need to know about them?

Many foreign students learning to speak English can find conversations with Native English speakers very difficult. One issue that causes difficulty when listening to others speak are CONTRACTIONS! 

When Natives are speaking, they will often contract words with the use of an apostrophe. By doing this, they combine two words together in order to speak faster and more fluently.

Example:

John could say: I am going to the cinema tonight but I will not be long.

In general, even though this sentence is accurate, Natives don't speak like this. (Do not = Don't)

Instead you will hear this;

What's an Anagram?

An anagram is a type of word play, the result of rearranging the letters of a word or phrase to produce a new word or phrase.


For example;

William Shakespeare = I am a weakish speller!!

Very humorous considering he is probably the most famous writer of all time!
